Parks Are An Integral Part of Downtown Tampa

The parks in Downtown Tampa have been developed or redeveloped along with all the other things going on in the district.   The city has done an excellent job of nurturing the green spaces by keeping them super clean and using them to bring people to the Downtown area.  The parks are part of Downtown Tampa’s identity and future.

Madison Street Park
Downtown Tampa’s newest park located at 1218 E Madison St in the Channel District.    Plenty of green space with shaded and un-shaded seating, a dog park, beach volleyball court, and shuffleboard courts.

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
This park is the centerpiece of Downtown Tampa.  Located on Ashley Dr and on the Riverwalk, it is a large beautiful space that can be enjoyed by people that just want to relax and take in the view, or others that may want to be a bit more active.  Monthly free concert, “Rock the Park”, weekly yoga and zumba, and great festivals are held at the park.

Kiley Garden
Located next to Curtis Hixon Park, this park has interesting landscape design, a small amphitheater, and a great view of the Riverwalk.

Water Works Park
This was part of the redevelopment of The Heights.  Located on Highland Ave next to Ulele restaurant, this park has it all.  Splash pad for kids, pavilion, playground, and plenty of green space.

Julian B Lane Riverfront Park This one has been around for a few decades.  It recently received a $30 million facelift.   It is 25 acres of beauty located on the West side of the Hillsborough River.  They didn’t miss anything at this park – playground and splash pad, boat house with kayak and paddleboard rentals, boat ramps, sports areas, dog parks, and so much more.

Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park Located on Old Water St next to the Tampa History Center.  Another great space along the Riverwalk with play areas for the kids.  Special events are held here throughout the year.

Lykes Gaslight Park
A great space located right in the heart of Downtown Tampa.  Grab some shade and enjoy your lunch here.  The Mayor’s monthly Food Truck Fiesta is held here along with many other special events.

Herman Massey Park
This hidden little gem is located on Franklin St.

Joe Chillura Courthouse Square Park
On Kennedy Blvd, this park has a beautiful domed stage, plenty of green space, and is available to rent for special events.

Snow Park
The smallest public park in the United States.  Four columns located at Kennedy Blvd and Grand Central Ave.

Perry Harvey Sr Park
Located on Scott St, this park has some super cool sculptures along with a play area for kids, including a splash pad.  Additionally, there is a timeline of the history of the area, which was predominantly an African American neighborhood.

Washington St Park
Another great, little park that is located in the Channel District on 12th St.  It has some green space and a dog run.

Tampa Riverwalk
Not truly a park, but an awesome area along the Hillsborough River.  Starting from Ulele in The Heights, you can stroll along all the way to Sparkman Wharf.  Lots of great views and plenty of spots for refreshments.

Deputy John Kotfila, Jr Memorial Dog Park
This has to be the coolest dog park in Tampa Bay.  Located on Raymond St, underneath the Expressway.  So much space for the dogs to run and plenty of ways to practice their agility.
