The Biggest Little Farm (2019) 7:30pm to 9pm Tampa Theatre When the barking of their beloved dog leads to an eviction notice, John and Molly Chester make a choice that takes them out of the city and into the foothills, naively endeavoring to build a diverse farm. However, the land they’ve chosen is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from a brutal drought. As their plan to create perfect harmony takes a series of wild turns, they realize that to survive they will have to reach a far greater understanding of the intricacies and wisdom of nature, and of life itself. Four young Latino men have a chance meeting at Burrito World in Omaha and discover they share the same name! Even though their ancestral roots are different, not only do they share a common name, they share a common dream: to stage a show of Latin standards that puts forth a positive image to counteract Latino stereotypes. Enter Maria, a beautiful woman who provides a romantic interest as the gentlemen vie for her attentions. Hedda Adapted by Lucy Kirkwood from the play by Henrik Ibsen Begins 8pm Jobsite Theater inside Straz Center for the Performing Arts Hedda, still mourning the father she adored, returns from her honeymoon with a husband she doesn’t love to a flat they can’t afford and a pregnancy she doesn’t want. Trapped by her past and terrified by her future, bored by her life, but too cowardly to walk away from it, she finds herself caught between three men. Ultimately, something has to give. In this updated version of Ibsen’s classic, set in 21st-century Notting Hill, thrilling young British playwright Lucy Kirkwood reworks the Hedda Gabler tale into a daring glimpse at her choices from a woman’s point of view. Broadway’s Eric Petersen Sings “Swinging Thru Broadway” Begins 7pm Straz Center for the Performing Arts This swinging cabaret evening will feature some of your favorite songs from classic musicals like “Guys & Dolls” and “Singin’ In the Rain” to beloved American Songbook classics like “One for My Baby” and “I’ve Got The World On A String”. Eric brings some of his Broadway performances from Shrek: The Musical and School of Rock direct to you from the Great White Way. Each character is based on actual hotel staff and guests.
