Resources for those impacted by Hurricane Helene

Last week, Hurricane Helene impacted our city, as well as much of Florida and the southeast. Our thoughts are with those that were severely impacted by this storm, and the Tampa Downtown Partnership wishes to continue to be a source of effective resources and information post storm.

 

If you and your family were impacted by the storm and are in need of resources, or if you wish to support those in need, please see the information below:

 

Feeding Tampa Bay – Providing food distribution and water supplies for affected families

 

Salvation Army Tampa – Offering shelter, clothing and hot meals for individuals and families

 

Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter – Offering emergency aid including shelter, first aid, and recovery assistance

 

Tampa Bay Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund – Donations and support available online; a collaborative effort providing financial assistance for recovery efforts

 

BELFOR Property Restoration – Whether it’s water, wind, or structural damage, BELFOR Property Restoration is fully mobilized and prepared to respond quickly to minimize disruption to your businesses. For immediate assistance, please call 813-386-3743.

Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans

Were you severely affected by Hurricane Helene? The Small Business Administration (SBA) is providing low-interest disaster loans that will enable survivors to repair, rebuild, or replace their damaged/destroyed real-estate, machinery and equipment inventory, and other assets.

 

The SBA’s mission is to assist with uninsured and underinsured losses, as well as:

  • Insurance deductibles
  • Gap insurance
  • Debris removal
  • Fences
  • Mitigation
  • Storm shutters
  • House raising

Get ready for the return of Office in the Park beginning this week!

Great news Tampa’s Downtown! The Tampa Downtown Partnership’s community engagement activation, Office in the Park, will return to Lykes Gaslight Park tomorrow through Thursday, from 9:00am – 3:00pm each day!

 

Office in the Park is a program in which Partnership staff members will set up a pop-up office in Lykes Gaslight Park to get feedback from YOU!

 

We love to hear from the community about Tampa’s Downtown, so be sure to mark your calendars and come say hello!

The Tampa Mimosa Festival will be held Downtown on Saturday!

Head to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on Saturday, October 5 from either 12:00pm – 4:00pm or 6:00pm – 10:00pm for the largest mimosa festival in Florida!

 

The “Mimosa Land” R&B Music Festival will bring bottomless mimosas, over 20 food trucks, and great music to Tampa’s Downtown! Tents and lawn chairs are welcome.

REGISTER: Our next Downtown Debriefing Breakfast is next week!

Join us on Wednesday, October 9, from 8:00am – 10:00am for the October Downtown Debriefing Breakfast on Parks, Streets, and Public Spaces at Hotel Tampa Riverwalk. We are eager to hear from renowned urbanist, Gil Penalosa.

 

Penalosa is the founder and chair of the nonprofit, 8 80 Cities, Chair of the World Urban Parks and President of Gil Penalosa & Associates. He is passionate about cities for all people and advises decision-makers on how to create vibrant cities and healthy communities for everyone.

 

His focus lies on the design and use of parks and streets as great public places as well as on sustainable mobility: walking, riding bikes, using transit, and new use of cars.

Next month, Downtown's Backyard Market will include a festive fall component

Our monthly neighborhood program, Downtown’s Backyard Market, will return to Tampa City Center’s Esplanade on Thursday, October 10, from 12:00pm – 4:30pm with all of your favorite farm-fresh favorites!

 

To celebrate the fun of autumn, we’re eager to include a mini pumpkin patch pop-up at October’s event! Be sure to head to Tampa City Center’s Esplanade for your usual favorites and a chance to grab a pumpkin to adorn your front porch or balcony with a festive autumnal decoration!

Oktoberfest Tampa will return to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park!

We’re excited for a famous German tradition to hop across the pond and make its way to Tampa’s Downtown!

 

From October 11-13, Oktoberfest Tampa will make its annual return to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park! Every year, thousands of people head to Tampa’s Downtown for this traditional festival to enjoy great beer, customs, delicious food, and a chance to unwind while making new friends. Be sure to add this exciting event to your fall bucket list!

Hop aboard Downtown's Pirate Water Taxi for the return of Haunted River Tours

Pirate Water Taxi will set sail with their Haunted River Tours from October 4-7!

 

This 45-minute cruise down the Hillsborough River will include a crew of fascinating costumed storytellers telling eerie tales of our city’s haunted history! Passengers can also expect to stop at Captain Patchy’s Pumpkin Barge, where each child can receive a small pumpkin and a chance to meet Captain Patchy himself!
