Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Begins 7pm Patel Conservatory For two decades, young readers have been enthralled by Mary Pope Osborne’s inventive Magic Tree House book series. Students in grades 2 through 4 perform this fantastical musical adaptation of the first book, Dinosaurs Before Dark, when Jack and Annie’s tree house transports them back in time to the age of the dinosaurs. Mayumana: Currents Begins 8pm Straz Center for the Performing Arts Thomas Edison vs. Nikola Tesla. Otherwise known as the War of the Currents, the battle between the two inventors to claim supremacy in electric power inspired this high-voltage mixed-media performance spectacular commissioned for the 2012 Jerusalem Festival of Lights. The show combines a variety of elements: specially-made musical instruments, massive video art projections including video mapping on the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, and eleven skilled performers in constant movement, playing on different instruments and musically juggling between different sounds. Wiesn in a Box 4pm to 11pm Barrymore along the Riverwalk The Tampa Downtown Partnership is excited to partner with the Goethe-Institut USA (German Cultural Center), in cooperation and collaboration with Hofbräuhaus America, presenting “Wiesn in a Box”. This traveling Oktoberfest experience is touring the country throughout 2019 and will bring an authentic biergarten experience to three different downtown Tampa neighborhoods this February. This pop-up German biergarten experience will bring a creative mix of freshly-baked pretzels, Hofbräu brews, authentic biergarten seating, and lots of fun music. Wiesn in a Box

Her formative influences range from Russian opera pop, to classic and modern day RnB, to Johan Sebastian Bach, cutting her teeth as a violinist in a gypsy jazz improv troupe showcasing in downtown Ybor. WineFest 2019: Vino Royale Begins 8pm Tampa Theatre The event is Fest… WineFest… a Bond-themed fundraising weekend. Now in its 17th year, this wine-focused weekend serves as the landmark theatre’s biggest annual fundraiser. Event chair Fred Zielinski notes that while James Bond may not have been much of a wine drinker, Tampa Theatre itself has a way of both shaking and stirring the hearts and minds of the community with its artistic and educational programming, as well as the 92-year-old movie palace’s ongoing preservation and restoration. Gasparilla Distance Classic Begins 6:45am Tampa Convention Center Surrounded by the area’s beautiful weather, every stride you make at this race benefits charitable youth organizations across the Tampa Bay area. And since 1978, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association has donated $3.9 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa, Girls Inc. of Pinellas, The Friends of Tampa Parks & Recreation and youth running related programs. Hollywood Awards Night Begins 7pm Tampa Theatre The Red Carpet Reception begins under the historic Franklin Street marquee, giving guests the opportunity to take a limo ride around the block, sign autographs for adoring fans, dish with “Roan Jivers” about who they’re wearing, rub shoulders with costumed characters representing Hollywood’s biggest bigwigs, and snap a photo with a living award “statue.” Inside, there will be games, prizes, and hair and makeup touch-ups with professional stylists.
