The Tampa Downtown Partnership is excited to partner with the Goethe-Institut USA (German Cultural Center), in cooperation and collaboration with Hofbräuhaus America, presenting “Wiesn in a Box”. This traveling Oktoberfest experience is touring the country throughout 2019 and will bring an authentic biergarten experience to three different downtown Tampa neighborhoods this February. This pop-up German biergarten experience will bring a creative mix of freshly-baked pretzels, Hofbräu brews, authentic biergarten seating, and lots of fun music. Wiesn in a Box

The Florida Orchestra – The Planets

The Planets align with NASA images on the big screen for the 100th anniversary of Holst’s sonic trip through the galaxy. Based in astrology, which enthralled Gustav Holst, each section is meant to capture the character of the planet. Also on the program is Debussy’s Nocturnes, meant to give “all the various impressions and the special effects of light that the word suggests,” according to the composer’s introduction. Step back in time and enjoy the single-character performances that bring turn-of-the-century Tampa Bay Hotel staff members and guests to life. Each character is based on actual hotel staff and guests. From the reminiscences of Henry Plant himself to the letters of a Spanish-American War soldier, you will learn more about the time period through each character’s particular vantage point. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

The West River Development Plan focuses on a 120-acre area bounded by Rome Avenue, Columbus Avenue, the Hillsborough River and Interstate-275. Attendees will hear how City officials and developers plan to create a genuinely diverse and economically integrated community with over 1,600 new residential units.
