Elaborate, ornate, heartfelt. These words capture the beauty of Victorian Valentines. Discover the history of these gorgeous keepsakes and create your own treasures at the Henry B. Plant Museum’s Victorian Valentine Making Workshop! Melissa Sullebarger, Curator of Education, will lead participants through various techniques for constructing valentines, including the use of color, texture, embellishments, as well as tricks to make cards pop up and move! Materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to personalize their Valentines – a special photograph, an old postcard, or a scrap of lace are all perfect additions! Tea and light fare will be provided by Oxford Exchange. Materials will include: Paper, card stock, patterned paper, pipe cleaners, beads, lace doilies, ribbon, stickers, glue, and more! Registration is $35 non-members, $30 members, $25 youth. Capacity is limited. Please call Melissa to reserve your spot(s) at 813.258.7304.
