Renewal of the Hillsborough Community Investment Tax supported by the Tampa Downtown Partnership

The CIT is a half penny sales tax, expiring at the end of its 30-year term in 2026. The CIT renewal is set for 15 years. This renewal is not an increase in sales tax, and as a tourist destination, visitors fund a significant portion of the sales tax. The funds will be distributed by population to Hillsborough County and the cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City. CIT-funded capital improvement projects include infrastructure, public safety, libraries, public utilities, park, schools and more. The projects supported by the renewal have already been identified. Approximately 50% is slated for critical transportation needs.

The Tampa Downtown Partnership supports the Community Investment Tax and encourages our members, colleagues, and neighbors to vote YES as it will continue investment in our future.

Listen to Partnership staff member Karen Kress discuss Franklin Street preservation on the WMNF's "The Skinny"

Here at the Partnership, we are passionate about historic preservation in Tampa’s Downtown.

Last week, our Senior Director of Transportation, Karen Kress, sat down with Manny Leto on WMNF’s “The Skinny” radio broadcast to discuss the Partnership’s historic preservation efforts centered around the Franklin Street Corridor!

Preserving historic aspects of our Downtown not only prevents the demolition of historic structures and neighborhoods, but it also allows the city’s residents and visitors to continue their own placemaking journeys!
